COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTEERING
The human contribution is the essential ingredient. It is only in the giving of oneself to others that we truly live.
-- Ethel Percy Andrus
We’re continually striving to contribute to our community around us, in new and meaningful ways. Honoring our commitment to social responsibility, demonstrating that we care about our local communities and that helping others and making an impact is extremely important to us.
This year we were inspired to create “IMPACT DAY” -- an annual event, a day of volunteer service where ORG staff in Winnipeg make a difference in ways that will better our local communities by volunteering with charitable and community groups and organizations.
Our first annual IMPACT DAY was Friday, August 29th. On this day, we chose an incredible local humanitarian organization, Siloam Mission, to volunteer with as a group. 20 of our staff members prepared and served lunch, assisted individuals in the drop-in centre and sort donations.
This day was a lot of fun, educational, uplifting and gave us the chance to work with people in a whole new way.
Dan Licoppe, our Director of Vocational Rehabilitation and Disability Management Services, and his family were featured in a United Way video profiling their volunteer work with L’Arche Winnipeg, which provides homes for adults with developmental disabilities.
“Without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It's important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It's the way in which we ourselves grow and develop.”

In June, 2014 we sponsored the first annual Winnipeg Bike Week:
A week-long celebration of people riding bicycles.
We hosted a pit stop the morning of "Bike to Work Day". The idea of the pit stop was to reward those bikers that chose to bike to work that day by providing them refreshments, snacks, prizes and even a bike tune-up by a bike mechanic if they needed. The event was also to promote cycling in general as a way of commuting and in doing so; we got to help out and connect with our community!
Battle Of The Badges
In May 2014, we proudly sponsored The BATTLE OF THE BADGES CELEBRITY HOCKEY CHALLENGE, in Winnipeg, held at the MTS Iceplex, in support of The Dream Factory of Manitoba. This event was developed by the Winnipeg Police Patrolmen Hockey Club, as a result of the OLD TIMER’S HOCKEY CHALLENGE electing to cease operations in 2012. This action, affected The Dream Factory who was the long time benefactor of the event. In addition, this left a void for the NHL LEGENDS, who loved giving back to the game and raising money for Charity. The target teams that can participate in this event are LAW ENFORCEMENT, EMERGENCY SERVICE, and MILITARY PERSONNEL.
Vital Life Inc. will continue to support this annual event and are excited to share that the Patrolmen Hockey Team have raised over $500,000.00 for Manitoba based charities; are extremely proud of this event, and plan to run it well into the future.
In 2013 Vital Life Inc. was a proud sponsor of the Valour Patriots Football Club which provides subsidized registration fees for children in Winnipeg’s inner city.
“For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people's love and concern for each other.”

Vital Life Inc. Fundraiser
Vital Life Inc. hosted a fundraiser at the Goldeye game on July 25, 2014 in support of the Dream Factory. As part of the event a draw was held for 2 Jet tickets to the Anaheim Ducks game on December 13, 2014. The lucky winner was:
Mr. Peter Leung of Crossroads Insurance
Thank you Peter, and enjoy the game. Also thank you to all who attended the event, contributed to the Dream Factory and those who purchased tickets for our draw. It was a great success and we'll be looking forward to doing more in the future to support the Dream Factory.
The Dream Factory
The Dream Factory is Vital Life Inc.’s preferred children’s charity. They are dedicated to fulfilling dreams for kids who are battling life-threatening illnesses. They’re unique because they’re locally based in Manitoba – and all of the funds they raise stay in the province to help local children. Everything they do is focused on helping sick kids and their families.
The Dream Factory relies solely on the generous support of people and businesses. Since 1983, when they were founded as “The Rainbow Society”, they’ve created cherished memories for more than 500 families in Manitoba.
Vital Life Inc. is very proud to support The Dream Factory and their mission, through direct donations, holding fundraising events and volunteering with their organization.
