Reconditioning is designed to restore function and enable clients to meet return-to-work goals through an individualized program of physical conditioning and strengthening tasks as well as work simulation and job-related functional activities. As range of motion, flexibility, and strength are increased by exercise plans carried out, first, in a monitored environment, then at home, education sessions inform the client about hurt versus harm as well as body mechanics and injury prevention. Pre-conditioning is provided for clients awaiting surgery to expedite the healing and recovery process. Reconditioning/Work Conditioning may be needed to prepare clients for participating in the physical component of a rigorous Work Hardening program.

Work Hardening is designed to enable clients to return to their specific job duties after a period of absence usually following a work-related injury or motor vehicle accident. This is achieved through an intensive, progressive, individualized work-focused program designed to increase functional abilities and activity tolerance through work-simulated tasks and structured exercise plans. An interdisciplinary approach is used to increase physical, behavioural, cognitive, and functional capacities measured against objective baseline data. As range of motion, flexibility, and strength are increased by exercise plans carried out, first, in a monitored environment, then at home, education sessions inform the client about hurt versus harm as well as body mechanics and injury prevention.
